Write-ins determine 30 positions in Carbon
Thirty municipal positions that were up for grabs in the 2015 General Election were won by write-ins after the official computation of the votes and certification by the Carbon County Board of Elections.
The board consists of Lee Becker, chairman; Wallace Putkowski; and Frank Jacobs Jr. They were appointed to the board by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic of the Carbon County Court of Common Pleas due to the fact that the three sitting commissioners - Wayne E. Nothstein, Tom J. Gerhard and William J. O'Gurek - who normally make up the elections board, were candidates in the Nov. 3 balloting. In most of the situations this time around, the winners were those in races where no one was seeking the positions on the ballot. The winners via write-in votes were as follows:East Penn Township: Auditor, six-year term, David Bryfogle, three votes; constable, six-year term, David Hower, two votes.Franklin Township: Auditor, six-year term, Betty Wolfe, 14 votes; and constable, six-year term, Justin Smith, six votes (defeated David Bradley Sr., who also received six votes, in the elections bureau's tiebreaking process).Kidder Township: Auditor, six-year term, Elizabeth Lennon, one vote (defeated Larry Polansky, James Dau, Jeanne Bingham, Joyce Petaccio and Roy Lamberson, who also received one vote, in the election bureau's tiebreaking process); auditor, four-year term, Elizabeth Lennon, one vote (defeated Larry Polansky, Frank Gilotti, James Dau, Jeanne Bingham, Joyce Petaccio and Roy Lamberson, who also received one vote, in the elections bureau's tiebreaking process); and auditor, two-year term, Elizabeth Lennon, two votes.Lausanne Township: Auditor, six-year term, Linda Korpalski, one vote.Lehigh Township: Auditor, six-year term, Glennys D.
