The Friedens Fire Company in Slatington served as the location for an afternoon of bingo.

Wendy Borger, secretary of the Blue Ridge Chapter of Dream Come True, partnered with Brenda Lang, a sales representative for Scentsy to create a different type of fundraiser for the Carbon non-profit.The fire company donated the hall time for the get-together, leaving all proceeds made to Dream Come True."We just wanted to do something different," Borger said. "It's not often you get to see Scentsy and Tupperware together."Borger is also a Tupperware sales rep. "People laughed and said 'they still make that stuff'," Borger said, with a chuckle.According to the women, the event took three months to set up.More than 80 people came to the hall at noon on Sunday in search of bingo fun and prizes. "This is the first one we have and it's going well," Borger said."A lot of people like to play bingo, It draws a lot of people in this area," Lang said."We thought we were only going to get 50, so it's pretty good."Tickets for the event cost $20 for three boards plus a chance at winning a door prize. The crowd was comprised of families out for an afternoon, groups of lady friends, and of course bingo enthusiasts.Susan Brinker of Slatington brought her personally owned bingo markers in several colors. The final Dream Come True fundraiser for 2015 will be held in Palmerton next weekend during the Lights in the Park Event, where the Blue Ridge Chapter will sell hotdogs through the day.
