November 27, 1947 - Charley Hontz collects two touchdowns to help Coaldale register a 21-6 Thanksgiving Day win over Lansford. Hontz opens the scoring on the first play of the second quarter when he breaks free for a 16-yard TD run. He later adds a one-yard plunge. The Tigers, coached by Tom Raymer, also reach the end zone on a 12-yard scoring toss from Joe Lopez to Joe Rilo. The winners finish the contest, which attracts 8000 fans, with a 289-103 edge in offense. Lansford avoids a shutout on Paul Vitek's 1-yard TD run.
