Northern Lehigh school board

The Northern Lehigh School Board recently acted on the following items during its regularly scheduled meeting.

• Accepted the retirement resignation of Theresa Lobach from her position as special education teacher at Slatington Elementary School effective the end of the work day, Dec. 14. At that time, she will begin her retirement from the district after 30 years of service.• Approved Sarah Fink, Michelle McCormick, Stephen Reimert and Jo Leigh Sponsler as districtwide permanent substitute teachers for the 2015-16 school year. They will be paid a daily per diem rate of $120 and will receive district health benefits according to the Affordable Care Act regulations with co-payment amounts equivalent to that of district personnel.• Appointed Robert Reese as second shift custodian at Slatington Elementary School, at a salary of $9 an hour, from 2:30-11 p.m. five days a week, effective Dec. 1, with a 60-day probationary period ending Jan. 29. Reese replaces Beverly Rupert, who retired.• Approved Jacqueline Gawronski, elementary K-6, school counselor; Lee Ann De Angelis, CLIU guest teacher; Stephanie Funk, CLIU guest teacher; Vicki Kistler, CLIU guest teacher; Preston Kucsan, CLIU guest teacher; Shaun Midas, CLIU guest teacher; Ashley Smith, CLIU guest teacher; and Denise VanSickle, CLIU guest teacher, as substitute teachers for the 2015-16 school year at the 2015-16 substitute teacher rates as approved at the Oct. 12 board meeting.• Approved Davina Blose, Crystal Buck, Kristin Garrison, Jessica Jones, Amanda Trelease and Janice Williams as substitute secretaries or instructional aides for the 2015-16 school year.• Approved Blose, Buck, Sabrina Clouse, Garrison, Jones, Trelease and Williams as substitute cafeteria workers for the 2015-16 school year.• Approved Eric Miedzwiecki, Robert Reese, Frank Stoss and Williams as substitute custodians for the 2015-16 school year.• Approved Sheila White as an unpaid volunteer aide in the Peters and Slatington Elementary schools for the 2015-16 school year.• Appointed David Pristash as a game worker for the 2015-16 school year. Game workers consist of ticket sellers and takers, game announcers, scoreboard operators, timers, field judges and scorekeepers.• Accepted the resignation Marian Van Norman from her position as cheerleader adviser, effective at the end of the 2015-16 school year. Stipend to be paid will be $1,064.67.The board approved the following co-curricular appointments for the 2015-2016 school year:• Megan Filchner, cheerleader adviser, shared stipend, $1,064.67• Tanya Ahner, cheerleader adviser, shared stipend, $1,064.67• Henry Ojeda, middle school coed soccer coach, $2,730.• Approved the first reading of 11 school board policies, and the second reading for 21 other school board policies.• Approved the resolution directing the Northampton County Tax Claim Bureau not to collect delinquent taxes on behalf of the NLSD.• Approved the resolution directing the Lehigh County Tax Claim Bureau not to collect delinquent taxes on behalf of the NLSD.• Heard student council's yearly board presentation.• Announced that the board's 2015 reorganization meeting will be held at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 7. That will immediately be followed by the board's regular monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m.
