The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met Nov. 19 with 62 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker conducted the business session and Ruthann Feane offered the invocation "Thanksgiving Prayer," written by Helen Steiner Rice.The group discussed the annual Christmas party, which is scheduled for noon on Dec. 3 at the Tamaqua YMCA. Refreshments will be provided by A & C Catering.Lillian Tomsho was added to the sick list. Members were reminded to bring brown bag lunches to meetings during the winter months.The next regular meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St. The meeting will include a birthday celebration.The group is open to anyone 55 or older and the YMCA is handicap accessible.Community ThanksgivingA Community Thanksgiving service will be held at 7 p.m. today in Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St.The public is welcome to attend.The Tamaqua Salvation Army will be hosting a free Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday. The Salvation Army is located at 105 W. Broad St.Library newsThe Tamaqua Public Library's Teen/Young Adult Book Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday.
