Luzerne man facing charges in Monroe

A Luzerne County man is facing charges, including fleeing or attempting to elude police, following an incident in Monroe County that occurred on Sunday.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said at 6:14 p.m. officers attempted to make a traffic stop along Route 611 in Mount Pocono. The driver of the vehicle was James Harvey, 31, of 2649 Lower Demunds Road, Dallas, who was known to the officers to not have a valid driver's license. Police also knew that the vehicle's registration was not valid and that the vehicle did not have valid insurance.Harvey continued southbound, failing to pull over for police who had activated their emergency lights and siren. Harvey continued southbound and then made a left turn onto Woodland Road. Harvey then pulled into the entrance to the Mount Airy Casino, at which time he was ordered out of the vehicle. Harvey initially refused to exit the vehicle, however, he surrendered after a couple of minutes. He was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters and later taken to the county prison in Snydersville.He was arraigned on charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police and resisting arrest. He failed to make bail and is an inmate in the prison.
