Veterans honored at Heritage Hill

Veterans Day was filled with recognition ceremonies across the country, including one at Heritage Hill Senior Community. Heritage Hill Senior Community invited local senior veterans and their spouses to a Veterans Day luncheon and recognition on Nov. 10.

"We salute all of our residents who are veterans, as well as those in the local area and beyond who have served or are still serving," said Rachael Kapes, marketing director."It was amazing to see so many people here, supporting all of the veterans and showing them how much we appreciate all they have done for our country."Veterans, residents, families and community members joined Heritage Hill as they recognized their resident veterans, as well as veterans in the community, and provided them with a lunch.There was a singing of the national anthem, Pledge of Allegiance and certificate distribution to attending veterans. Special guests included Dr. John Shalanski, licensed clinical social worker, who spoke about the history of wounded warriors in America, from the Revolution to present day; and USA National Miss Pennsylvania Teen, Courtney Dornheim, who pinned flowers on each of the veterans.
