Jurors spent just six minutes deliberating Friday before finding Gregory Graf guilty of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse.

Graf, 54, of Allen Township, was on trial in Northampton County Court for the 2014 murder of his stepdaughter, Jessica Padgett, 33, of Whitehall Township.

After the verdict was read, Padgett's family and friends cried and hugged each other.

Padgett's sister, Kristi Davis, read a statement immediately following the jury's decision: "Greg, you have always been a mean, cold and rude man…You only cared about yourself…You didn't give Jess a chance to fight, and I know she would have."

A Northampton County judge sentenced Graf to life in prison on the first-degree murder charge and one to two years on the abuse of corpse charge. The sentences are to be served consecutively.
