Principe brothers have strong season for PSU-Hazleton soccer

The Penn State-Hazleton men’s soccer team recently concluded a successful 2015 season.Playing a huge role in that success were brothers Steven and Michael Principe, who are both Jim Thorpe High School graduates.Steven finished regular season play ranked seventh in the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) in scoring, despite playing midfield more than half the season. He had 11 goals and five assists for 27 points, and finished with the highest shooting percentage among the league’s top scorersMichael was switched from midfield to centerback part way through the season to shore up the defense. He had two assists for the season.Both brothers received postseason honors. Steven was named First Team All-Conference and Michael was named to United States Collegiate Athletic Association’s National All-Academic Team.PSU-Hazleton posted an 11-5 overall record and had an 8-2 mark in conference play. PSU-Hazleton defeated PSU Wilkes Barre in the quarterfinals of the PSUAC playoffs before falling to PSU Beaver in the semifinals.
