O'Neill, Partington help Misercordia capture MAC field hockey title

The Misercordia University field hockey team won its first ever MAC Freedom championship with a 4-3 double overtime victory over FDU-Florham.Jennifer O'Neill and Samantha Partington, who both have Times News area ties, played a key part in the Cougars securing the program's first ever NCAA Tournament berth.O'Neill, a Pleasant Valley graduate, was named the MAC Freedom Championship Most Valuable Player thanks in part to scoring her team's final two goals, including the game-winner in the 95th minute. Partington, a Northwestern graduate, was credited with the assist on O'Neill's game-winner.O'Neill, a senior forward/midfielder, has 11 goals and three assists on the season.Partington, a senior defender, has six defensive saves. The assist in the title game was her first of the season.
