Bo Tkach Foundation 5K Turkey Trot set

The Bo Tkach Foundation 5K Turkey Trot 2015 will be held on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 26 at the Palmerton Borough Park for the second straight year.

The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages and starts on Third Street at the park. The run proceeds through town and ends back at the park pavilion.The early registration fee for adults is $20 and for youth is $10 and includes a T-shirt. Early registration closes on Nov. 19. Those registering after Nov. 19 will receive a T-shirt only while supplies last. Youth registration will remain $10 and adult registration will be $25 after Nov. 19.Awards, for runners only, will go to the top male and female overall, top three males and females in each category (13 and under, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and older).Registration forms are available online at botkach.com and can be mailed to PenTeleData, Attn: Theresa Christman, 540 Delaware Ave., Palmerton PA 18071 or through pretzelcitysports.com/online registrations.htmlChecks should be made payable to the Bo Tkach Foundation.Last year's top finisher was Jonathan Condly of Jim Thorpe with a time of 17:48. Condly is now a member of the Temple University Cross Country Team. Avery Francis was the first female to cross the finish line with a time of 22:27.Participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the local food pantry (no glass).The Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce is having a tailgate and all procees will go to the Bo Tkach Foundation.The mission of the Bo Tkach Foundation is to create awareness for obsessive compulsive disorder and other mental health issues while providing essential funding for youth athletic programs, scholarships and otherwise inaccessible individual mental health screening and treatment.Proceeds from the Turkey Trot will help provide funding for youth and young adults to access behavioral health evaluation and treatment.
