Colts stampede Shenandoah Valley

The word stampede perfectly describes what happened last night in Marian's 41 -0 romp over Shenandoah Valley that clinched a playoff berth for the Colts.

Dictionary.com calls a stampede a "sudden rush of frenzied animals, especially horses. In the first 10 minutes of the game, the Colts scored four touchdowns totaling 215 yards of offense. Marian's scoring explosion occurred while the Blue Devils' offense was only able to muster one first down.K. J. Snerr added five touchdowns and 109 rushing yards to his season's total that now leaves him a 106 yards short of the coveted 1,000 mark."We are very serious here about our offensive execution," said Snerr, whose team lifted its record to 6-3. " I don't have a favorite play, I just run hard as hard as I can inside or out."Snerr credited his perimeter blocking by his wide receivers who helped spring him on four TD runs and a 71 yard spin and catch of a pass from quarterback, Ethan Kuczynski. Snerr then outran two defenders down the sideline to put Marian up 14-0 with just over three minutes gone by.Hunter Nause continued the Colt stampede with a 13 yard misdirection touchdown run followed by another Snerr run to pay dirt one minute later and it looked like Shenandoah had no answer for Marian's high powered offense. The Devils did manage a 13 play drive that stalled on the Marian 17 in the second quarter, but that was the closest they would get to the end zone for the rest of the night."We were close on hitting a few big plays on some of our post patterns," said SV coach Kevin Bolinsky, "and their front line kept us in check when we tried to run the ball. Despite their dominating the game, I really don't think we came to play tonight."At the break, Colts' coach Stan Dakosty, who registered his 302nd career win, told his team he was not happy."After our great start, I thought we lost our concentration," he said. "We did what we had to do, but we didn't put it away. Our defense was strong all night, especially Nathan Litsch at linebacker. Our secondary also did a great job. We knew we would be tested because they like to throw ball."The Colts "D" held Shenandoah to just 104 yards total offense and less than three yards a carry in the running game.Though the outcome never seemed in doubt, Snerr put up two more scores in the third quarter, his final tally a 22 yard burst through the middle of the Devils' defense.Kuczynski had a big night too, throwing eight completions for 169 yards.LOW NUMBERS ... The Blue Devils dressed only 26 varsity players, down from 42 at the start of the season. Bolinsky said injuries, disciplinary actions, and players leaving the team are the reasons for the low number.FOUR SCORES AND 99 YARDS AGO ... Marian's Snerr scored four touchdowns on 99 total yards in the first eight minutes of the game.PLAYOFF PUSH ... The Colts have now won three consecutive games to ensure a winning season and to qualify for the district playoffs.Déjà vu ...
