No damage was done after a dryer fire broke out late Wednesday afternoon at a laundromat in Palmerton.

Mike Kercsmar, captain of the Palmerton Fire Department, said firefighters responded at around 5 p.m. to the 24/7 Laundromat at 643 Delaware Ave., Suite Two.Upon arrival, Kercsmar said there was smoke coming from the front door of the Laundromat."Someone inside used an extinguisher on it before I got there," Kercsmar said. "We used another extinguisher to make sure it was out; we just ventilated the building."Kercsmar said firefighters were on scene for around 30-45 minutes. He said there was no damage to the building, as the fire was contained to the dryer unit itself.Clothes inside the dryer is believed to have caused the fire, Kercsmar said.- Terry Ahner
