State police at Schuylkill Havens said the incident began about 4:30 a.m. Friday at 265 Hill Road, Hegins, in Barry Township.According to police at the time stated a knock was heard on the door at the residence. Ryan Sibel, 29, who resides at the home, answered the door an saw a female standing in the doorway with other people with her. Sibel turned around to ask someone who lived at the house if it was OK to let them in. As soon as he turned he was struck in the forehead with the butt of a pistol by one of two suspects. That suspect then punched Sibel a few times and then ran to the kitchen area where he began to beat on Michael Felty, 32, who also resided at the residence. As this was going on the second suspect pushed a machete to Sibel's throat causing a cut. Sibel grabbed the blade of the machete and fell backward on his back. The suspect attempted to pull the machete away from the victim while he was above him. Sibel let go of the machete blade at his point and the suspect then hacked down toward the throat of the victim but it struck Sibel in the forearm. At this point the suspect took off his mask and showed his face to Sibel while he was trying to slash him with the machete. Both suspects where wearing all black and black ski masks. One of the suspects was described to have a red beard and red hair.Troopers said neighbors at a trailer next door heard the incident going on and forced their way into the residence through a side door. Once inside they told the suspects to get out and they eventually did leave through the door they came in.Troopers did not indicate if either Sibel or Felty required medical attention. Troopers said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
