Donohue for Supreme Court

Dear Editor:

I have lived in Lansford all my life, all 92 years of it. For part of that span I lived next door to the Lewis family, wonderful neighbors who were like so many other families in our community. There were five of them. I remember that the father worked in the mines and the mother worked at the Kiddie Kloes Dress Factory. They had two daughters and one son.One of the daughters, who I have known since the day she was born, left Lansford to pursue her education and a law degree. Her name is now Christine Donohue, Judge Christine Donohue, and she has had an amazing career. She is someone we can all take great pride in.Judge Donohue currently serves on the Superior Court, the second highest court in the commonwealth. And what pleases me so much about her is that she has never forgotten where she came from. Judge Donohue is as proud of her roots as we are of her. She points out to anyone who will listen that the values she takes to court with her every day were taught to her long before law school. Her sense of fairness and justice comes from the family and community where she was raised. It is not often we get the chance to vote for someone we know personally for such a high office as Supreme Court justice. In you live in northeast Pennsylvania, even if you have not met her, you know Christine Donohue. She is one of us, cut from the same cloth. I ask you to join me in voting for Judge Christine Donohue for Supreme Court justice on Nov. 3.Bernice StrepkoLansford
