Delays likely around turnpike interchange

Motorists can expect delays around the turnpike interchange over the next week as workers set beams for the bridge.

A flashing sign along Route 209 has been placed by the entrance to the Pennsylvania Turnpike to warn motorists of work beginning Thursday at the Mahoning Interchange.Two beams will arrive Thursday between 1-2 p.m. The beams will be transported to the project with state police escort and parked on the shoulder in the vicinity of the bridge. Between 3-4 p.m. a second set of beams is scheduled to arrive.The contractor will close the southbound right lane from milepost 76 to 77 Once the single lane pattern is set, a beam will be driven into position at the bridge.At 8:15 p.m., the first beam will be set, followed by beams set at 9, 10 and 11 p.m.The single lane pattern may remain in place until 5 a.m. Friday.Next Tuesday, two beams will arrive at between 1 and 2 p.m. and be parked on the shoulder in the vicinity of the bridge.Between 3-4 p.m., a second set of beams will arrive and lane closures will be in effect that evening.Once the four beams are in place and secured, the single lane pattern will be removed.On Nov. 5, four more beams will arrive and be put into place that night.Work is tentative and weather dependent.
