• Tamaqua's Annual Halloween parade is Tuesday. Registration forms are now available at the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce Office, 114 W. Broad St. The rain date is Wednesday. For more information, call 570-668-1880 or email

tamaquachamber@verizon.net.• Carbon County Animal shelter, 63 Broad St., Nesquehoning, will hold a Howl-O-Ween party at the shelter from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The free event will help raise awareness of the shelter dogs available for adoption. Visitors can bring their pets in costumes. There will prizes, pet games and treats, pumpkins, a pet walk, kids bouncy house and dog adoptions. The shelter asks that animals be leashed during the event. Donations of pet food, cleaning items or cash are welcome.• The 108th Slatington Halloween Parade will be Saturday.• Shenandoah's Halloween Parade is set for Saturday. Staging starts at 12:30 p.m. outside the Shenandoah Hi-Rise on West Oak Street. Parade continues north on Main Street and ends outside the Shenandoah Manor for free refreshments and snacks. Participants do not need to register. Parade is organized via the Shenandoah Community Watch.• Haunted House, Route 443 in Clamtown, sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 755, 7-10 p.m. Oct. 30, 31 and Nov. 1. $1 off admission with a canned good that will be donated to a local food bank.Trick or treat• Heritage Hill Senior Community, 800 Sixth St., Weatherly, invites local children, ages 0-10, to the community to celebrate Halloween from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Residents will be handing out goodie bags to the children. For more information, please call Toni Englehart, marketing associate, at 570-427-4500.• The East Penn Township Trunks-for-Treat night will be at the Social Hall parking lot at 403 Blue Mountain Road from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, offered by the township's recreation board for residents to bring their vehicles, dress up to join the "atmosphere" of the evening if you wish and provide treats. With the main road through the township being East and West Lizard Creek Road (Route 895) and a heavily traveled highway, the Trunks-for-Treats is being offered as a means to keep the trick-or-treaters safe and off the highway.
