Carbon woman admits stealing from relative

A Carbon County woman admitted stealing money from a relative.

Jazmin Allysa Andrews, 20, of Nesquehoning, formerly of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of theft on Monday before Judge Steven R. Serfass.Andrews was arrested by Mahoning Township police for taking a $800 in U.S. currency from a purse belonging her cousin.The victim reported the theft on July 7 and said Andrews was the only person in the home besides her when the money went missing.When confronted by police, Andrews admitted taking the money and spending some of it at Walmart.Serfass placed her on probation for 24 months and ordered her to make restitution of $543 to the victim, pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation and render 100 hours of community service.
