Palmerton Area Library events

The Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, has many exciting events scheduled for the next few months.

Once again the library will sponsor a handcrafted items auction beginning Nov. 6.The library is looking for donations of quality handcrafted items (knitted or crocheted items, quilts, jewelry, wooden items, dolls, Christmas items, etc.) If you have items to donate, please bring them to the library by Nov. 1.The library will host a book signing on Nov. 21 from noon to 2 p.m. in the main room. Author Bill Allison, who wrote the book "The Apprentice," will be at the library, along with the illustrator, Jae Rehm, who is a Palmerton resident and currently a student at CCTI.Stop in and purchase a book and chat with them about writing and illustrating this book.The library will host the Annual Art Show and Lunch on Jan. 24, from noon to 3 p.m. in the gallery.Artists interested in entering pieces in the show should contact the library at 610-826-3424 for more information.This show is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.The library Knitting Club meets the first Monday of each month from 6-8 p.m. in the conference room.This club is free and open to anyone interested in knitting, crocheting and other fiber crafts, regardless of skill level.The Sew What Quilt Guild meets at the library on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.New members and visitors are always welcome.The library board of directors meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m.These meetings are open to the public.The library is open Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10-5, and Saturdays from 9-4.The library has six computers for the public to use, and offers faxing and scanning services and color copying.Check out its website,
