Restaurants' subdivision plans approved

Two restaurants in Kidder Township got the green light to subdivide the land from Carbon County officials Tuesday.

During the monthly meeting of the Carbon County Planning Commission, the board voted to recommend conditional plan approval for a proposed subdivision the Long John Silvers/A&W and Arby's restaurants along Route 940 in Kidder Township. The plans call for subdividing the 2.94-acre lot into two lots.Ivan O. Meixell Jr., county planner, said that through his review, he found that plans lack minor final plan requirements of Kidder Township's land development ordinances, including that per the plan, both plans will be serviced by a common driveway access point. He said that a maintenance/access agreement between the two property owners should be completed to avoid future issues.Carbon County's recommendation now goes with the plan to Kidder Township, which has the final say on the proposal. In other matters, the county planning commission made recommendations on the following proposed projects.• Duane A. and Lavona A. Schleicher received conditional preliminary plan rejection for a proposed subdivision at 1146 W. Lizard Creek Road, East Penn Township. The plans call for subdividing 52.316 acres into five residential lots. On-lot sewer and water is already existing on proposed lots one and two.Meixell said that there are some severe sloping conditions on proposed lots three and four that would pose access issues, and that the proposed land use in the subdivision does not conform to the East Penn Township zoning ordinance.• Dean and Stephanie Hosier received plan approval for a proposed subdivision at 305 Manor Drive, Stone Ridge Manor, Lower Towamensing Township. Plans call for subdividing a 6.135-acre lot into two lots and taking one of the new lots and combining it with an additional lot to create a new 0.4491-acre lot.• Michael L. Pireda received plan approval for a proposed subdivision at 338 Jamestown Drive in Mahoning Township. Plans call for subdividing 87.516 acres into two lots.
