A New Jersey man faces several charges, including the robbery of a car, after leading police on a chase Friday in Monroe County.
On Oct. 16, at around 9:35 a.m. Pocono Mountain Regional Police were dispatched to the area of Sterling Road in Mount Pocono for a reported carjacking.The victim was located and said he pulled over in his car and was forced out of the car by an unknown man later identified as Eddie Quick, 30, of New Jersey.A physical altercation began and Quick pulled out a large hunting knife, attempting to stab the victim, police said.Quick then stole the vehicle, a tan Ford Fusion. Pocono Township Police spotted the car traveling south on Route 611 in Tannersville.When police attempted to stop Quick, he fled at a high rate of speed onto Interstate 80 east.Pennsylvania State Police and Stroud Area Regional assisted in the pursuit.Spike strips were deployed, causing the vehicle to slow down. The vehicle continued driving, striking a tractor trailer, and eventually hitting a light post.Quick then got out of the vehicle and attempted to run away.Officers caught him and arrested him.Charges against Quick include robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, aggravated assault, reckless endangering, theft, receiving stolen property and traffic offenses.The arraignment judge will be Judge Phillip Riley.
