A touch of Christmas at Palmerton's Halloween parade

The sight of Santa Claus and sporadic snowflakes had Palmerton's Halloween parade feeling more like Christmas at times Sunday afternoon.

Despite the chilly temperature, residents lined several borough streets as ghouls and goblins of all sizes made their way through town.Awards were given out in several different categories.The Palmerton Hungarian Club took home the judges' choice overall outstanding large float honor with their "Hungarian Hillbillys" theme.Judges' choice outstanding Palmerton Sports Group large floats went to the Palmerton Booster Club 85-pound football team with "Stomp the Swamp with the Bombers, the Palmerton Booster Club 100-pound cheering "Bomber Boot Camp," and the Palmerton Booster Club flag cheerleaders "Hawaiian Luau."First place in the large floats category went to Palmerton Youth Wrestling's "Hunting the Competition" theme followed by Cub Pack 41 "Adventure in Scouting," Palmerton Booster Club Flag Football "Unleash the Beast," and Cub Pack 209 "Race to Scouting."Honorable mention went to Palmerton Booster Club 100-pound football "Tackling the Cause," Boyer's Tree Farm "Boyer's Collectables Enjoys Fall," and Halls of Horror "War Machine."Judges' choice for overall outstanding small float was Tumble with Denise's "Jungle Love" theme.Judges' choice for overall outstanding small Bomber Sports float was Palmerton Booster Club 85-pound cheerleaders and their "What's Your Super Power?" theme.First place in small floats went to Palmerton Booster Club 130-pound cheerleaders "Greasing the Competition" followed by Palmerton Booster Club 130-pound football players "Whipping the Competition," Living Hope Lighthouse Church "Lighting Up the Community," Girl Scout Troop 301 "Scouting Is Sweet," and Zinc City Motorcycle "The Spooktacular Ride."Honorable mention in small floats went to S.S. Palmer Parkside PTO "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," Ahner Production's "Boys and Their Toys," and Boy Scout Troop 20 "Spooky Camping."First place for best appearing costumed group went to Girl Scout Troop 3259 "Clowning Around in Girl Scouts" followed by Girl Scout Troop 3583 "Putting Stock in Girl Scouts," Daisy/Brownie Troop 348 "Spooky Girl Scout Cookies," Lehighton Brownie Troop 3862 "Whipping Up a New Batch of Brownies," and JT Farm Horses.Honorable mention went to Girl Scout Troop 3127 and 3580 "Girl Scouts Have Power," Girl Scout Troop 03215 "Minecraft," and Lehighton Junior Troop 3248 "Minions of Change."The Palmerton High School cheerleaders and their "supporting breast cancer awareness" theme won first prize for a noncostumed group. The Palmerton junior high cheerleaders were second with their "Palmerton Junior High has Bomber Pride" theme.In the automotive category, the Pacemakers Association took home first prize for their "Happy Days" float followed by the Daisy Girl Scouts "We Love Girl Scout Cookies." Richard Beers' "Farmall Tractor took home honorable mention.
