Snow White and the missing dwarf

It's now down to Snow White and the six dwarfs after one of the Disney-themed statues was stolen from outside the Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mike Mickey, president and CEO, said that about two weeks ago, the "Dopey" statue was taken from its spot just outside the facility at 397 Hemlock Drive in Lehighton."They're here for over 20 years," Mickey said. "It's a real disappointment; the residents really love it, the visitors and especially children."Mickey said he was "stunned" that the 3 1/2-foot statue, which weighs over 100 pounds, was stolen."I can't imagine somebody doing this," he said. "It took a lot of guts."Mickey said that back in the year 2000, he was thinking of getting rid of his collection of statues from Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.""There was a real outpouring (to keep them)," he said. "I wound up putting a lot of money into them."The matter has been reported to Mahoning Township Police, said Mickey, who added that a reward is being offered to anyone who has a tip that leads to the statue's recovery."The biggest sad part is for the residents, their grandkids," he said. "It's important to our family of residents here."
