One person was injured Thursday afternoon when involved in a crash along Longwood Drive in Chestnuthill Township.

The crash occurred at 5 p.m. as the driver of a late model Cadillac failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The car hit and snapped off a utility pole. The injured driver could not be attended to due to live power lines down across the vehicle.

A PP&L crew secured the scene allowing the victim to be extricated from the wreckage and transported to an area trauma center. Four hundred power customers were without power in the immediate area.

West End fire police shut down the roadway as utility crews worked on the downed lines. State police are investigating the incident.
