Three arrested after fleeing traffic stop

Three people were arrested and jailed early Sunday morning after they fled a traffic stop in Carbon County.

State police at Fern Ridge said a vehicle was stopped about 4:23 a.m. along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township for traffic violations.On scene troopers observed indicators of criminal activity present and requested a search of the vehicle, which was refused. While waiting for the arrival of a state police K9 unit, the occupants re-entered the vehicle and fled the scene. When police pursued the car, multiple bags were thrown from the vehicle.After the vehicle was forced to stop the occupants were taken into custody. The three were identified as Arden Scott, 44, of Orlando, Florida; Corey Scott, 40, of Erie; and Darryl Lettley, 45, of Brooklyn, New York.A subsequent search of the area yielded about 53 grams of crack cocaine, troopers said.The three were charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, fleeing/eluding police, destruction of evidence and related charges.The three were arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning.
