Kistler's big game propels Tamaqua past Lehighton

Lynn Kistler's big scoring day helped Tamaqua coach Clem McCarroll record a milestone victory in girls soccer action on Thursday.

GIRLS SOCCERTamaqua-LehightonTamaqua's Lynn Kistler scored all of her team's goals in a 4-1 Schuylkill League victory over Lehighton.Three of Kistler's goals came in the second half as the Raiders snapped a 1-1 tie and pulled away for the win.Morgan Boyle had two assists for the Raiders. Shanna Brinkworth and Caitlyn Joseph both had one assist.Rajah Quinones scored the only goal for Lehighton.Alexa Hromyak came up big in goal for Tamaqua, making 18 saves.The victory was the 150th in Tamaqua coach Clem McCarroll's career.Jim Thorpe-N. Camille Principe and Ilse Hassler both scored a goal and had two assists; Brooke Cope had a goal and an assist; and Monae Bullock, Lauren Donati and Monique Jervier all added a goal.The Olympians had a 26-3 advantage in shots.Northwestern-PalisadesPalisades managed a 2-0 shutout over Northwestern in Colonial League action.Melissa Koch and Kayla Reed both scored for the Lady Pirates.In the game, Palisades had a 6-2 edge in shots with McKenna Amey stopping four shots in the Tigers' goal.Pleasant Valley-PM EastPocono Mountain East rallied to score a pair of unanswered goals in the second half for a 3-2 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pleasant Valley.Megan DeHaven scored twice for the Cardinals (11-3-1 overall, 10-3-1 EPC). Taylor Caridi added a goal and two assists. .For the Lady Bears (9-7, 9-5), Abby Leach and Taylor Merklin scored goals. The Indians won the Schuylkill League matchup, 25-20, 25-21, 25-23.Lehighton's Katie Higgins managed 14 kills, three aces and 34 digs in a strong all-around performance. Andrea Shaffer had six kills and 13 digs for the Tribe and Tori Evans-Rodriguez had 28 assists, six kills and two aces.For the Olympians, Erin Shigo put together 21 digs and nine kills; Kelsey Carroll contributed 12 digs and 14 assists; Alexandra McGinley had 14 digs; and Mackenzie Rosenberger had four kills.North Schuylkill-MarianMarian made quick work of North Schuylkill, 25-4, 25-9, 25-7, in Schuylkill League play.Jasmine Mooney led the Fillies with nine kills. She also added four aces and four digs. Maureen Kloap had six kills and Abigail Stankiewitch had five kills, three aces and two blocks. Courtney McCall also had a great game with 10 aces and 18 assists.Panther Valley-PottsvillePanther Valley swept Pottsville, 26-24, 25-11, 25-15 in a Schuylkill League match.Jamey Mikovich led the way for the Panthers (12-2) with nine kills, nine digs, three blocks and three aces. Kelsey VanHorn added four kills, eight assists and five aces; Christina Dacey contributed four aces; and Danielle Hudicka had 11 assists in the strong team effort.Blue Mountain-TamaquaBlue Mountain swept through Tamaqua in Schuylkill League play, 25-8, 25-18, and 25-7.Despite the loss, the Lady Raiders saw Kaitlyn Stauffenberg compile 11 assists and seven digs. Mckenzie McVicker had four kills and four blocks; and Carly Kosciolek had five kills and four digs.FIELD HOCKEYPalmerton-No. LehighNorthern Lehigh dispatched of Palmerton 5-1 in a Colonial League match-up.Brittani Pristash and Hayley Pavolko both scored a goal and added an assist for the Bulldogs.
