Trick or treat

• Trunk or treat: Hosted by the West Penn Township Lions Club and the West Penn Fire Company No. 1, from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 24 at the West Penn Fire Company No. 1. Dress in costume and decorate your vehicle's trunk, tailgate, or hatch, and have fun handing out treats. Free admission; refreshments available.Prizes will be awarded for the best decorated trunk, children's costume and adult costume. There will also be pumpkin painting and a scarecrow contest. Pumpkins and paint will be provided for the children. A Halloween-themed movie will be played inside the fire company. All vehicle trunks need to be registered, decorated and staffed by 4:30 p.m. Registration is required with proof of insurance upon arrival. Rain date: 2 p.m. Oct. 18.• The annual Halloween Parade for Eldred Township will be 1 p.m. Oct. 18, with the rain date the next Sunday. The registration deadline is Oct. 11. The deadline has been extended, and anyone wishing to have a float can contact the event through their website or Facebook page.• Shenandoah's Halloween Parade is set for Oct. 31. Staging starts at 12:30 p.m. outside the Shenandoah Hi-Rise on West Oak Street. Parade continues north on Main Street and ends outside the Shenandoah Manor for free refreshments and snacks.
