New members are welcome.PV School BoardThe Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m. Thursday at the district's administrative building in Brodheadsville.Bear WalkThe Pleasant Valley Elementary School and Middle School are slated to have the Bear Walk on Friday.Monroe Seniors menuThe menu for the Chestnuthill group of Monroe Seniors meeting Friday and Wednesday in Zion Lutheran's Fellowship Hall will be open face hot roast beef sandwich and beef tips with gravy, respectively.Memorial runThe West End Park and Open Space Commission is hosting its Second Annual Dave Fleetwood Memorial Trail Run/Walk at the West End Regional Park on 578 Evergreen Hollow Road in Chestnuthill Township on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.The run/walk is open to all ages and abilities and the new Dave Fleetwood Memorial Trail will be available for those wishing a leisurely walk on a firm and stable surface accessible to all wheeled devices.All proceeds will fund the Dave Fleetwood Memorial Scholarship to recognize Pleasant Valley High School graduates who exemplify Fleetwood's outstanding attributes.The 3.1-mile trail run winds through 240 acres of open space property and includes a flat trail, an open field and woods trails. Walkers are invited to use the 5/8 mile portion of the flat trail, and/or the 3/4-mile field trail or the entire running course.Those who register now for the run/walk will pay $25. It is for West End families going through emergency or other short-term situations and are not eligible for local, county or state programs and is limited to a 12-week lifetime duration per family. The registration deadline is Sunday.Due to the growth of the parade, registrations on the day of the parade are no longer accepted. Unregistered participants are welcome to walk the day of the parade, but they must be in St. Matthew's Church grove for lineup no later than 12:30 p.m. Only those who are preregistered applicants will be judged.
