Kunkletown woman dies after being hit by car

A Monroe County woman has died from multiple blunt force trauma after she was struck by a motor vehicle on Friday.

Kathleen L. Herfurth, 67, of 180 Old Stagecoach Road, Kunkletown, was pronounced dead by Lehigh County Coroner Scott M. Grim at 10:35 p.m.The incident occurred at around 9:22 p.m. in front of Illicks Mill Road in Bethlehem.At that time, Herfurth was a pedestrian who was struck by a motor vehicle.The Lehigh County Coroner's Office and the Bethlehem Police Department are continuing to conduct the investigation.Herfurth is survived by her husband Steward Herfurth (Butch); children Allison, Mike, Mark, Tabitha, Bub, Shelley, Jen, and Mark; grandchildren Megan, Danielle, Mark Jr., Madison, Julian, Cody, Caleb, Cainan, and Gabriel; sisters Jocelyn and Annie; and mother Mildred. Herfurth is preceded in death by her father, Frank.She sang with the Pocono Choral Society, Pocono Summer Chorus, and her church choir at Christ Hamilton. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Red Cross Blood Dive. Before retiring, Herfurth was a nurse with Pocono Visiting Nurses Association, American Red Cross, and Laurel Manor Nursing Home. She helped, hugged, baked for, prayed, sang, cried, and laughed with everyone she encountered.A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Christ Hamilton Lutheran Church, in Stroudsburg. Following the service, a fellowship will be held in The Lighthouse.
