Wolf prepares to talk budget as stalemate nears 100-day mark

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Gov. Tom Wolf is about to address reporters about the Pennsylvania state budget stalemate, which is about to hit 100 days.

The first-term Democrat planned to make remarks Monday in his residence on the dispute with Republican leaders that has prevented action on a spending plan for the budget year that began in July.Wolf is seeking support in the Legislature for a tax package he says is necessary to wipe out the GOP's funding cuts for schools and human services and to eliminate a long-term budget deficit. He's spent the last several days trying to come up with a deal to attract Republican votes in the Legislature, after leaders offered to let him take his tax proposals and budget plan to the floor of the General Assembly this week.
