The Bucket List Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St.This meeting's selection will be "Frankenstein," written by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly in the early 1800s.New members are always welcome. The meeting will be held in the Tamaqua Elementary School Library, starting at 6:30 p.m. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month during the 2015-16 school year.Rescue squadThe Tamaqua Rescue Squad's annual fund drive is still underway. The squad is one of the last few independent rescue service providers in the state and depends on the annual drive to continue providing fee free service.New members are also needed. Anyone interested in volunteering may stop by the station, at 19 Pine St., any Thursday evening.Adult Day CareThe Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has a variety of activities planned for October, including several Halloween themed events.Activities scheduled for the month include: Oct. 6, cookie baking; Oct. 7, special entertainment; Oct. 8, crafting a black cat; Oct. 14, sing-along with Audrey Christ; Oct. 21, Salvation Army service and Halloween bingo; Oct. 29, exercise with Jeanie; Oct. 30, Halloween party with St. Jerome's kindergarten students.In addition to weekly singalongs, exercise sessions, a variety of therapies and social games, the center provides for hairstyling service, which requires advance notice. Breakfast, lunch and a snack are served daily.Anyone interested in obtaining more information about the center, or services provided, may call 570-668-6577 or visit Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.St. John UCCThe Rev. Kevin Duffy-Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ. The service will include Holy Communion and a Neighbors in Need offering. Sunday school classes will begin at the end of the junior sermon. A time of fellowship will be held following the service.
