The Carbon County Commissioners, sitting as an Election Board, approved the appointment of Mrs. Lawrence J. Mayer, Palmerton, as a substitute Republican nominee for the position of Carbon County treasurer on the Nov. 5 General Election ballot.Mrs. Mayer’s name was forwarded to the commissioners by the county GOP’s executive committee. Her name on the ballot replaces her husband’s following his recent passing. He had been serving as deputy register of wills and won the party’s nomination in the primary election.
