Slatington 150 History Committee

The Slatington 150 History Committee is pleased to announce that the history book titled "Slatington at 150: More Stories to Share" will have a third printing.To date over 600 books have been sold, and due to continual demand, the committee has decided to offer a third printing of the book to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to purchase a copy. The committee is only going to print the number of books it has preorders for, so it is imperative that everyone who wants a copy of the book preorder one.The books will be available by Christmas, so they can be used as gifts. In addition, the committee is offering digital PDF copies of the history book on CD for half of the cost of the hardbound book.The nearly 600 page book contains chapters on Slatington businesses, churches, civic organizations and luminaries. In addition, the book contains histories on over 35 families and stories on accidents, disasters, tragedies and weather events.Anchoring the book is an entertaining chapter titled On This Day in Slatington History, a chapter aptly called More Stories to Share, which contains human interest stories, and other intriguing stories of Slatington, and a 140-plus page history of Slatington/Northern Lehigh High School athletics.The deadline to preorder the books is Nov. 2. All books and CDs must be prepaid. The cost of the book remains $50, and add $10 for postage and handling if the book needs to be shipped out of the area. The cost of a PDF copy of the book on a CD is $25, and add $4 for shipping and handling. Checks can be made payable to Slatington 150 Committee, and mail to Robert Stettner, 44 S. There is no parking at the covered bridge or on Seventh Street. There will be food, beverages and crafts all day, starting at 1 p.m.There will also be a 50/50 drawing (tickets available), the Great Slatington Duck Race, Chinese basket auction (drawing at 7 p.m.), Bier Garden, fireworks grand finale, and free music all day. Proceeds will benefit the Slatington Trailhead and Slate Heritage Trail.
