Man charged with sex abuse heads to court
A Rush Township man accused of the sexual abuse of a child, has had his charges bound over to Schuylkill County Court.
Kyle Hosler, 21, of 57 Frankford Ave., was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer of Tamaqua.Instead, Hosler opted to waive his right to the hearing. He faces charges of three counts of sexual abuse of children, and one count each of corruption of minors, unlawful contact with minor, and criminal use of communication facility.Hosler remains free in lieu of $25,000 unsecured bail.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by trooper John Powis of the Pennsylvania State Police:The investigation was initiated after the mother of a 13-year-old girl contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children when she learned her daughter met an adult male online and received inappropriate images of a sexual nature with him.She said her daughter was being pressured by the man to send additional images to him.Between the span of Nov. 1, 2014, and March 27, 2015, Hosler made contact with a 13-year-old girl online with the use of the application Omegle.The conversation between the two continued online with the use of Kik Messenger, Snapchat, and Skype.During the initial conversation between the two, the girl told Hosler she was 15. About one week later, she admitted to him that she was only 13.Over the next few months, Hosler and the girl used multiple online applications for communication.On May 21, police issued a search warrant on the Hosler residence.The state police Computer Crimes Task Force found several images of Hosler and a girl believed to be the 13-year-old victim on Hosler's cellphone, which was found at the residence.Two of the images were printed out and shown to Hosler during an interview with him at his residence.Hosler identified the first photo as the girl. Hosler identified the second photo as himself.He admitted to police about the online relationship.
