Palmerton native reappointed as reserve ambassador

JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. - Army Reserve Ambassador George H. Duell Jr., United States Army Reserve Ambassador for Pennsylvania, has received a three-year re-appointment to his position by Lt. Gen. Jeffrey W. Talley, Chief of Army Reserve.

A Palmerton native, Duell is a retired high school principal.His undergraduate degree is from Kutztown University, graduate degree is from Temple University and post graduate program at Lehigh University.Duell is past state chair for the Pennsylvania Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.He also volunteered as a U.S. Army Freedom Team Salute Ambassador and as an Ambassador for the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War Commemoration Committee.Duell is a past Commander of the Honorary First Defenders, which traces its roots to the Civil War. He is also active with various veterans organizations.The Army Reserve Ambassador Program was established in April 1998 for private citizens to promote awareness of the Army Reserve and the identified goals and objectives of the Chief, Army Reserve. The ambassadors develop awareness and advocacy with community leaders and are vitally important bridges to communities across the nation.
