Gun range closes over stray bullet probe

NAZARETH (AP) — An eastern Pennsylvania group has closed its shooting range two weeks after a prosecutor announced he’s investigating whether stray bullets were hitting homes from another club a couple miles away.Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli announced earlier this month that he’s trying to determine whether the stray bullets are coming from the Stockertown Rod & Gun Club. That investigation is still ongoing, but now WFMZ-TV is reporting that the Edelman Belfast Sportsman Club has shut down its range. The ranges are about two-and-a-half miles apart.Officials with the Edelman Belfast club haven’t responded to the television station and didn’t immediately return a call from The Associated Press early Wednesday.Neighbors say they’ve complained about stray bullets from that club, too, but nothing’s ever been proven.
