Caregiver admits stealing from client

A caregiver admitted stealing over $7,000 from her client.

Paula T. Kuntzman, 47, of New Haven, New York, and formerly of Palmerton, pleaded to one count of theft, as a felony three, before Carbon County Judge Joseph J. Matika on Tuesday.Kuntzman was charged by state police at Lehighton with taking the AMT and debit cards of Amy C. Whitemore, who she was caring for, and using them to take $7,328.37.Kuntzman told Matika she had been caring for Whitemore for about two and a half years at the time.Kuntzman was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked for violating conditions.Kuntzman told Matika, "I'm extremely regretful for what I've done."Matika deferred sentencing to a later date.
