Former Jim Thorpe standout Steven Principe has been named PSUAC Student-Athlete of the Week in Men’s Soccer.Principe was the team’s leading goal scorer in 2014 and has continued his fine play during the opening stretch of competition this season, scoring five goals – on just six shots – which is tied for the team lead, and is second on the team with 10 points.Principe netted his second career hat trick to lead his team to victory in their match versus Penn State Mont Alto, a 5-3 triumph. The sophomore followed up that stellar performance with an overtime game-winning score against Penn State York.Steven’s brother, Michael, is second on the team in assists with two.The brothers have helped lead Penn State Hazleton to a 5-1 overall record, including four straight wins. The team’s next match will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at home against Penn State Beaver.
