A home was destroyed by a raging fire Monday night along Route 873 in Washington Township.

The fire was discovered by passing motorists when they saw the flames pouring from the home which is set back off the roadway in dense woods.

The home is believed to be vacant.

Route 873 was closed as firefighters from several counties battle the flames and deliver water to the scene.
