Snyder, Hall lead Northwestern over PA

Dylan Snyder continued his emergence as the Northwestern quarterback and Harry Hall picked up another 100-yard rushing effort in the Tigers 37-0 Colonial League win over Pen Argyl Friday.

The victory puts Northwestern at 2-1 on the season and drops the Green Knights to 0-3.Last week, Snyder's favorite target was Trevor Cunningham, but this week, he found Dylan Lobach open and connected for two touchdowns. Snyder also rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown on the night. For Cunningham, he believes that things are coming together well for Northwestern and that they'll continue to improve as the season goes on."We have great team chemistry, we work hard at practice and we're getting stuff done," said Cunningham of the team's newfound confidence. "Everybody has a job on this team and we all just get our job done."Both teams had some trouble holding onto the football, with Pen Argyl losing the ball three of the four times that they fumbled and Northwestern fumbling three times and losing the ball twice. The two teams basically handed the ball back-and-forth on back-to-back plays.Northwestern led 23-0 at the half and opened that lead up quickly in the second half, thanks to Brett Schillinger, who returned the opening kickoff of the half 85 yards for a touchdown and Brandon Miller added the extra point to take a 30-0 lead. The final nail in the coffin came when Snyder hit Lobach for a 24-yard scoring pass and the extra point made it 37-0.The Northwestern defense has now gone eight quarters without allowing a point. They also have allowed a combined total of just 218 yards in their last two games. Even though Northwestern lost a lot of key seniors to graduation, the offensive and defensive lines have a number of returning players and are making big plays."They're a veteran bunch, they've played a lot of football for us. Our line really picked it up, both offensively and defensively and made it very tough for them in the trenches," said Tiger head coach Josh Snyder. The defense was also helped by the return of Teagen Golden. Golden is known for his big playmaking skills and came up with several big stops on defense."He's not just big for us physically, but he's the heart and soul of our defense," said coach Snyder about his senior linebacker.CLOSING THE GAP ... The all-time series between Northwestern and Pen Argyl is now 11-10 in favor of the Green Knights.NAILED IT ... For the second week in a row, Brandon Miller nailed a 24-yard field goal with plenty of yardage to spare.A LATE PUSH ... Of the 100 yards that Harry Hall gained on the ground, 58 of them came on his final four carries of the game. Pen Argyl's defense was initially able to keep Hall contained early, but he started to break through as the game went on and finished with runs of 20 and 21 yards.
