Lansford man charged in domestic assault

Lansford police have charged a borough man after a domestic assault on July 30.

Charles L. Thatcher VII, 19, faces charges of simple assault and harassment, according to a report released Monday by police. The assault charges were later withdrawn.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Jeffrey J. Tanner, he was dispatched to a home on East Kline Avenue to check on a report of a man cutting himself. When he arrived, he spoke with a woman there who said she and Thatcher were in a physical confrontation and that he had grabbed her by the neck and began to choke her. He was yelling that he was going to kill himself and her, she told Tanner.She was able to get his hands from around her neck, but he then grabbed her arms and would not let go, she said.
