Tamaqua man arrested on assault charges

Jonathan Michael Pauly, 20, of Tamaqua, was arrested by Tamaqua police on Sept. 2 after he assaulted and threatened his ex-girlfriend.

The 15-year-old contacted police at 3:30 p.m. after school. She said that before school she went to a Orwigsburg Street residence to break up with Pauly. He grabbed her by the arm, pushed her against the wall and threatened to shoot her and her family. She suggested there may be warrants issued for his arrest and it was possible he was still at the Orwigsburg Street home.Minutes after the victim provided her statement a man living at the of the Orwigsburg Street address called to say that Pauly was an unwanted person in his home and was refusing to leave.Police confirmed there were two warrants for Pauly and went to the home where they arrested him for the assault.He was arraigned on charges of simple assault, making terroristic threats and reckless endangerment. Bail was set at $5,000 straight, which he was unable to post, sending him to the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville.
