Cops: Central Pa. flea market vendor died in van fire caused by candles

PENNS CAVE (AP) — State police and a coroner say a central Pennsylvania flea market vendor was killed in a van fire caused by her burning candles inside the vehicle.

The Centre County coroner determined 54-year-old George Ann Mirach, of Shickshinny, died of smoke inhalation.State police say she was burning candles overnight from Thursday to Friday when her van caught fire. She was participating as a vendor at the Nittany Antique Machinery Association Flea Market when she became trapped in the burning van.Christy Toon, another vendor, says vendors sleep in their vehicles during the flea markets.She says she’s known Mirach for 30 years and believes the woman may have been burning the candles for warmth.
