$200K in meth, $28,000 seized in Palmerton raid

A Carbon County man has been charged after police found a large amount of methamphetamine and cash, as well as an illegal weapon, during a search of his home in July.

Donald Charles Fritz Jr. also allegedly sold the drug to undercover officers on multiple occasions during a two-month period leading up to the raid.Fritz, 43, was arraigned on felony drug charges on Aug. 26. He is currently being held on $500,000 bail.Local, state and federal agents began looking into Fritz in June. Agents with the state attorney general's office made undercover drug purchases at Fritz's residence on Laurel Lane in Palmerton over a two-month period.Investigators obtained a warrant to search the home in late July. On July 26, they raided the home. Inside, they found approximately 1 kilogram of suspected methamphetamine, $28,090 in cash, drug packaging materials and a digital scale. They also found six firearms, one with the serial number illegally removed.The drugs were tested and confirmed to contain amphetamine. They have a street value of $200,000, according to police.At the time of the raid, Fritz was awaiting sentencing on two separate DUI convictions where he was in possession of drugs.He now faces one felony count each of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm with an altered serial number. He also faces a misdemeanor count of drug possession. A preliminary hearing is set for October.
