One of the most sensational murder trials in recent Carbon County history occurred in 1982 when Warlocks motorcycle gang member Robert "Mudman" Simon was before the bench.

Simon was accused - and found guilty - of killing his girlfriend in a Jim Thorpe home, then dumping the body on Luzerne County.He was later paroled from state prison and within days killed a New Jersey police officer.Yesterday, Simon was murdered in his prison cell by a fellow inmate.
