Carbon senior expo slated for Thursday in Jim Thorpe

State Sen. John Yudichak, D-Luzerne/Carbon, and Rep. Doyle Heffley, R-Carbon, will host the annual Carbon County Senior Citizens Expo on Thursday at the Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The hall is located at 101 E. 10th St. in Jim Thorpe.

"The Carbon County Senior Expo presents the perfect opportunity for seniors to gather information about the many programs and services available for them through a wide variety of local agencies and state government," Yudichak said. "I always enjoy talking with our seniors at the expo, and I'm looking forward to meeting as many people as possible this year.""It is a pleasure to join Sen. Yudichak in hosting this great event," Heffley said. "This is a unique opportunity for Carbon County seniors to learn about local, state and federal programs designed to assist seniors. This year's expo will be the largest ever with over 50 exhibitors already registered to attend."The Senior Citizens Expo is free and will feature more than 50 vendors from local, county, state and federal agencies to answer questions and provide useful information about their programs and services to seniors.In addition, a prescription drug drop-off box will be available for seniors to dispose of their unwanted or expired medications. A free lunch will also be served.The legislators will also be collecting nonperishable food items to donate to a local food bank and ask everyone who attends to consider bringing a donation.
