The Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 397 Hemlock Drive, Lehighton, has filed a civil action against Jean DiFabio Weaver, 110 W. Fell St., Summit Hill, seeking damages in the amount of $27,524.37, plus interest, costs and attorney's fees for an unpaid fee for services provided to the defendant's mother, Grace DiFabio.The suit states the defendant entered into Nursing Home Facility Admissions and a Responsible Person agreements with the facility and agreed to be personally liable for charges for her mother's care. Her mother was subsequently admitted and cared for until her passing on March 29, 2015, the suit states.The complaint lists two counts, one being alleged breach of contract by Weaver and the other citing the PA Filial Support Law, in which the suit contends the assets of the deceased were inappropriately transferred or distributed from her estate to the defendant, making the defendant responsible for the costs of the mother's care.Municipal liensPenn Forest Township has filed a municipal lien against Donald and Maria Krauss, 97 Redwood Drive, Jim Thorpe, in the amount of $246.65.The township said the claim is based upon unpaid garbage fees in the amount of $200 for 2015, plus filing fees of $46.45.The lien states the fees and related costs are authorized by township ordinance No. 92-1.The Bowmanstown Borough Authority has filed a municipal lien against Thomas Reigel, 520 White St., Bowmanstown, in the amount of $1,284.90.The authority said the claim is based upon an unpaid water bill in the amount of $513.25, plus filing fees of $46.45, administrative fees of $25 and attorney's fees of $700.The lien states the fees and related costs are authorized by the PA Municipality Authorities Act and borough resolution No. 98-2.Money judgmentsRazor Capital LLC, Bloomington, Minnesota, has placed two money judgments on record.The first one is against Anthony Recker, 458 Franklin Ave., Palmerton. The judgment, in the amount of $2,275.31, was awarded on May 30 by Magisterial District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton, who found the defendant responsible for a credit card balance on an original card issued by Citibank N.A.The second judgment is against Glenn Good, 7430 Pohopoco Drive, Kunkletown. In the amount of $3,843.10, it was awarded on May 30 by Kissner, who ruled the default was on a credit card issued by Citibank N.A.Borough bills owedLehighton Borough has filed municipal lien claims against the owners or custodians of properties in the borough in which there are delinquent electric, water, sewer and garbage fees.A lien was filed against Dana Snyder, 337-1/2 Bridge St., Lehighton, as executor of the estate of Victor G. Wertman, over a property at 332 Cypress St. The lien lists unpaid bills for the period of September 2012 to September 2015 as follows: electric, $336.40; water, $547.81; sewer, $1,308.60; and garbage, $908.75, plus a filing fee of $46.65 for a total lien of $3,148.21.A lien was filed against Robert H. and Jean M. Anderson, P.O. Box 425, Lehighton, over a property at 128 S. First St. The lien lists unpaid bills for the period of February 2011 to July 2013 as follows: electric, $483.45; sewer, $434.70; garbage, $1827.80; and taxes, $27.62, plus a filing fee of $46.65 for a total lien of $2,819.42.A lien was filed against Robert H. and Jean M. Anderson, P.O. Box 425, Lehighton, over a property at 128 S. First St. The lien lists unpaid bills for the period of July 2012 to May 2013 as follows: electric, $854.18; sewer, $338.10; water, $1,647.23, plus a filing fee of $46.65 for a total lien of $2,934.98.License appealJordan Sample, 159 S. Fourth St., Lehighton, has appealed the suspension of her driver's license by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Transportation.The suspension was to take effect Sept. 22 for a period of 90 days as the result of a Motor Vehicle Code violation (offenses related to alcohol) that happened on Aug. 24, 2013.
