McAdoo police responded to a fight call on Aug. 19 and found drug paraphernalia instead.
Officers were dispatched to the area of West Blaine Street at 10:25 p.m. and noticed an open garage door to the rear of 10 N. Kennedy Drive. A television set was turned on, with two chairs positioned in front of it, but no one was around. An adjoining door was also wide open. When officers investigated they realized the garage led to an apartment building. Most of the rooms were vacant and in a state of disrepair, but Apartment C was occupied by Michael Yates, who answered the officer's knock on his door.Yates denied any knowledge of a fight, as did a second man in the apartment. While speaking to the two men, asking questions about the open garage door, one of the officers saw a mirror placed on a living room table. On the mirror was a short plastic straw with a white powder residue and a razor blade. Yates seemed surprised to see the three items, but then admitted they were used to snort Percocet, but not by him as he doesn't have a prescription for the drug.Yates was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
