West Penn man killed in crash identified

Authorities have identified the man killed in the Route 309 crash in West Penn Township Friday night.

Charles E. Tidabock, 67, of West PennTownship, was killed Friday night in a single vehicle crash about 10 p.m., as he was traveling north descending the north face of the Blue Mountain.

His van drifted to the right, striking the guarding and going 50 feet down a steep embankment, hitting a large tree.

Tidabock was born and raised in Allentown, having worked at Mack Trucks until his retirement then relocating to West Penn township.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday to determine a cause of death.

Firefighters of the West Penn Fire Company No. 1, members of the New Ringgold ambulance and West Penn Police all worked to save Tidabock, who died of his injuries.

West Penn fire police maintained traffic control at the scene reducing the roadway to an alternating one lane.

West Penn Township Police are investigating the incident.
