One hurt in Tamaqua crash

One person was sent to the hospital Friday afternoon when the car she was driving crashed into a parked vehicle in Tamaqua.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the vicinity of 322 W. Broad St., Route 209, at 3:18 p.m. for a report of a crash with injuries.

Those at the scene said it appeared the driver of a white Subaru Forester was traveling west when, for some reason, the car veered into a parked Saturn Ion, pushing it more than 20 feet.

The driver, a Pottsville woman whose name was not immediately available, was transported to St. Luke's Hospital - Miners Campus, Coaldale, with unknown injuries.

Both vehicles sustained substantial damage and were removed from the scene by Hope's Collision and Towing of Tamaqua.

Responding were Tamaqua police, fire department, rescue squad, fire police and Lehighton Ambulance.

Officers Karl Harig and Corey Herring are investigating.
